Title: Theoretical security of QKD protocols

Abstract:
It is well-known that quantum key distribution (QKD) allows two parties to
establish a shared secret key. What is less clear is how security is proven
for a specific QKD protocol since even in the literature, many of these proofs
are written in a partially informal way.
In this talk, I would like to discuss the general framework for writing formal
security proofs of QKD protocols. I hope this will provide a high-level
picture of how the security of the key is quantified and what underlying
assumptions are used.
