Abstract:
The neutral quasiparticle dark-state polaritons behave as half light and half matter
in electromagnetically induced transparency, and are nicely described by the coupled
optical-Bloch equations (OBE). By a transformation of OBE, we find a recipe to
engineer synthetic electric and magnetic fields for neutral dark-state polaritons. In
this talk we will use an EIT system to simulate two textbook examples, i.e., Landau
levels and a driven two-level system. The former (latter) reveals the influence of
effective magnetic (electric) fields on EIT dark-state polaritons.
